Ron Paul winning military donations straw poll
July 17th, 2007 by Steve
At a time when a very significant amount of active duty service members are joining the Libertarian Party, this report should come as no surprise - but it’s nice to see, nonetheless. According to Dave Weigel, Paulsters in uniform contributed:
more than [to] John McCain ($16,675), Mitt Romney ($4551) combined and only a little less than those two plus Rudy Giuliani ($2320).
Jesse Benton said, “We’re very proud of our military support but we don’t want to overstate it.” I’d advise not overstating it, too - but what was anecdotal to those of us watching such trends is now becoming increasingly verified by real numbers.

No shock here, people like Dick Coffee (USAF ret)and myself (USA ret) have been telling you that for years. Awareness of the Constitution is far stronger among those who serve than outside on average. But as you say, don’t think it’s a blank check of support. I support Paul on his domestic policies not his foreign ones. I still think he’s way off regarding Iraq/Afghanistan.
