Rudy Giuliani: Presidential candidate with the smallest cajones

July 27th, 2007 by Steve

It looks like Rudy Giuliani may be chickening out of the pending CNN/YouTube presidential debate much the same way he’s chickening out of the Iowa caucuses.

Plans for a CNN/YouTube debate for the GOP seemed to be falling apart Thursday after front-runner Rudy Giuliani said scheduling conflicts would keep him away from the planned Sept. 17 face-off, although an aide said discussions were continuing about a possible alternate date. Formal invitations went out Thursday.

What’s wrong, Rudy?  Afraid of exposing, again, that you really haven’t a clue about the topic at hand?

Props to Dave Weigel.

To be quite blunt, Rudy’s got California, Michigan, New York (obviously!), Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and the entire New England States in his back pocket. And he’s doing quite well in Florida to boot.

That’s a healthy chunk of delegate support.

Nothing against Iowa. It’s a fine State.

But asking why a particular candidate is not campaigning more in Iowa is kind of like asking them why they aren’t spending more time in Delaware, Alaska or Arkansas.

(Incidentally, Giuliani did recently make a campaign swing to Delaware, which gets far less attention, but is the 3rd State after NH and IA in the Primary season.)

The debate has been “postponed”, or so I see reported.

Does this mean that Giuliani’s nickname is now “Chickenheart”?

Giuliani is a power-mad coward whose main accomplishment in the last 7 years has been attempting to illegally hang on to the mayor’s office in New York after his term expired. Like all bullies, he’s a big man when he has the state apparatus at his beck and call, but runs away like a little girl when he might actually have to face real people without anyone to protect him.
