Take Back Some Sanity

If I was doing public relations work for the State of Alabama, I might be tasked with some sort of campaign to improve the public perception of our state troopers. However, this is the exact opposite of what my PR campaign might look like:
State troopers issued 4,779 tickets Thursday on Day 4 of a weeklong campaign to Take Back Our Highways. Since Monday, troopers have written 21,476 tickets statewide. About 200 additional arresting officers from the Alabama Department of Public Safety were added to the state’s 331 regular patrol troopers for the campaign. The five days of extra enforcement was aimed at showing how extra personnel would decrease the number of highway deaths, DPS officials said.
I’ll bet that public sentiment towards the Alabama Department of Public Safety is at an all time low right now. Don’t count on additional personnel if public perception is that they will be used to harass generally law-abiding and productive people.
