MoveOn.org Umbrella Group Running Pro Ron Paul Advertisement
October 10th, 2007 by Steve
Here’s the scoop from HuffPo:
Americans Against Escalation In Iraq, the major umbrella group organizing activism against the Iraq war, is pushing out an ad later today blasting the GOP ‘08 frontrunners for their claims about Iraq during yesterday’s CNBC debate, and praising Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) as “the only GOP candidate who gets it on Iraq.”
According to their site, Americans Against Escalation In Iraq is…
…a group of independent entities, including the Service Employees International Union, MoveOn.org Political Action, VoteVets.org, Center for American Progress Action Fund, USAction, Win Without War, Campaign for America’s Future, the United States Student Association, Working Assets, Americans United for Change, Campus Progress Action and Nation Security Network, that have banded together as a coalition to launch a multi-faceted, multi million dollar effort in fifteen target states to education the American public about the true costs of the war in Iraq, mobilize opposition against President Bush’s Iraq policy, as well as apply on-going pressure on members of Congress to oppose this failed policy.
The coalition consists of tax-exempt educational and advocacy organizations, as well as political action committees and “527″ organizations. Each entity, working on its own or with other legally permissible coalition members, will conduct activities appropriate to its tax and election law status, all under the umbrella of Americans Against Escalation in Iraq. Americans Against Escalation in Iraq is a coalition of organizations including a wide range of political and nonprofit organizations that are working to change our current policy in Iraq.
Here’s the ad:

This is a very good TV ad.
I hope they play it a lot on TV in Nevada, Iowa, Michigan, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Wyoming, and Florida.
If they do, Ron Paul may win.

Great Ad! This really puts things into perspective - the choices we have in the field of Republican nominees - all of whom support the war or worse; expansion of the war into Iran - for Republicans who are well-read enough to understand blow-back and the year history of the middle east where we should not get entangled unless we wish to ruin our own nation. Go Ron Paul! www.WisGOP.com

Great Ron Paul ad! A disciple of Ludwig Von Mises and scholar in Austrian economic theory, he could have manned that stage all by himself and truly given the nation a real lesson on economics. It is a shame they marginalize the only economic genius on stage. www.mises.org

This is an excellent ad; and I’m very happy to see it coming from a progressive organization and supportive organizations. Our country needs saving and Ron Paul is the man that we - as a country - truly need to rally around to do the job. The rest will pound the remaining nails in our coffin. We are broke. Enough is enough.

Is this going to air across the major networks? Fantastic, inspiring, energizing ad! The best I’ve seen! Awesome work! Ron Paul is our last hope for liberty! Go Ron Paul 2008!

For those of you who think this is good, I know for a fact that Ron Paul does NOT want to be associated with this group! Next thing you know, they will be accusing him of taking money from George Soros, socialist criminal….
Oh my….maybe Ron can get this taken off the air! I hope…because these are the wrong people to be associated with.
Jay Henderson wrote on 10/10/07 at 9:20 pm :
WOW!!! Awesome job guys! I’m so excited to see these organizations taking initiative to save U.S. citizens. I don’t know most of them, but I will read up and study them now. I hope they run this ad in the early primary states, that’s where Ron must win to get the nomination. Keep up the EXCELLENT work!

I challenge the Service Employees International Union, MoveOn.org Political Action, VoteVets.org, Center for American Progress Action Fund, USAction, Win Without War, Campaign for America’s Future, the United States Student Association, Working Assets, Americans United for Change, Campus Progress Action and Nation Security Network to educate yourself on Dr. Paul’s Constitutional message and find the simple answers to our problems. The video is great but you left out Hillary, Obama and Edwards out of that confederacy of dunces.
Neil Rove wrote on 10/10/07 at 9:36 pm :
Great Ad! Please run this in Iowa, NH, Michigan, Sout Carolina, Nevada, and the other early Primary states.
Our republic has to be restored and you are doing the right thing. A true patriot indeed.
God Bless America.

Dr. Paul may disagree with MoveOn.org et al on economic issues, but I’m sure he is delighted with anyone who helps him spread his message.
This is great for Ron Paul. He is building a coalition of disparate groups around this issue. Way to go!
Besides, I believe that some of the lefties that will hear this are actually closet libertarians. ;-)
A note to those want to support Dr. Paul in the primaries — many states have closed primaries, and the deadline for re-registering Republican is THIS FRIDAY in New Hampshire, New York, and some other states. Act Now!
Chris wrote on 10/10/07 at 9:47 pm :
Thanks for the ad! I would like to plead with everyone who is not registered as a Republican to please register as a Republican so that you can vote for Ron Paul in the 2008 primaries. I’m not asking you to like the Republican party (I don’t, and I’m leaving it after these elections). But look: if Ron Paul were chosen in the primaries, then as far as the war issue, the two major parties would BOTH be running anti-war candidates and THAT would be great for America. Please vote for Ron Paul in 2008.

What a very naive take on this! What on earth makes you think these people would ever support Dr Paul? This is a hit, friends, and if you don’t know why, then I weep for you!

Clay T wrote on 10/10/07 at 10:19 pm :
The way to get the Democrats attention is to switch for the primary elections to the Republican party and vote for Ron Paul to help him take the nomination away from the war mongers. Then we will see the Democrats scrurry to change their tune on the war. Without Ron Paul in the race the elitists will pull the strings to bring about an incident blamed on Iran…to give the excuse the war hawks want. Hillary and Rudy are both playing tough guys…beating the war drums. Ron Paul alone seeks dialog and a return to peaceful co-existance. So get registered as a Republican for now and cast your vote for Ron Paul in your state’s primary. Be part of the Ron Paul Revolution and help change the world.

Finally! Thank you to all of the organizations that are supporting this ad. I sent an email to moveon.org just last week to tell them to face the facts after they asked me to send a letter to my Congressmen about how they attacked Moveon.org for the General BeTray us ad. I sent the letter to my Congressmen saying I had had enough of their games and whether they agreed or disagreed with the ad, that Moveon.org has freedom of speech. Then I emailed Moveon.org and told them that their party in Congress had abandoned them and that they needed to start supporting the only person that agreed with their positions. Ron Paul! He deserves any help that we can give him…this is about us, our country and he CAN be the next President of the United States!! Thank you all so much for supporting the man who is our only hope.

I kept on wondering why they were calling me wacky because I felt morally obligated to get involved and try to end this war and support Ron Paul. But, this ad is so great because it gives a second face to the Ron Paul campaign. It has always been the wacky Ron Paul supporters. Now, they will have to deal with the wacky Ron Paul supporters and MoveOn.org Umbrella Group. Its like getting a much needed friend when everybody is bullying you around.

Heck, I totally agree with the General Betrayus ad… I applauded it and I applaude ANY help from any organization to STOP THIS WAR. Move-on.org has some views I endorse and some I dont, however, THE most important issue is GET US OUT OF IRAQ, AND AS RON PAUL SAYS JUST COME HOME and even the friggin democrates arent going to do it. SHAME AMERICA, we are bankrupting our country and so are we your Children’s Children. Lets turn this country around with the Ron Paul Revolution!!!

I’m glad to see this article supporting Ron Paul because If Ron Paul doesn’t get elected we are ’soooo dead’

This add is great! The debate on msnbc was so biased and to see that Ron Paul’s answers are so powerful enough that he doesn’t even have to say much (because media is not fair with him) to get his point across. I think Ron Paul will win, just because his message is so strong. Everywhere I turn in my city there is Ron Paul banners everywhere!! I can’t wait to see this add on TV!!
PEACE!

They do not want to offend Hillary Edwards or Obama because those people are against things like privatization of social security, cutting spending and other conservative ideas…they would not want to alienate them after all. I am still baffled because I thought 501c3 groups could not endorse candidates?
Melissa wrote on 10/11/07 at 10:06 am :
This is what I call sensationalism - tugging on the heartstrings of Americans with the ever-present wealthy rockers singing in the back. Though I’m not a fan of the ad or many of these groups, I’m 100% for Ron Paul b/c of his libertarian ideals - small, limited gov’t, lower taxes, privatization, balanced budget. I want everyone to support RP but I just ask for those on the Left to seriously ask themselves what they stand for and not bring the RP campaign down. For all of us, instead of watching what could be an MTV video, let’s go home, read the Constitution, and think about how and why we allowed gov’t to become so big and powerful. Thanks.

Misleading. Why are you suggesting that MoveOn.org is the dominant player in the umbrella group?
The original poster has revealed himself as a partisan hack.
Phil wrote on 10/11/07 at 11:31 am :
Why do all of the online polls regarding Republicans get skewed in favor of Ron Paul? Because only internet hacks participate and internet hacks seem to want Ron Paul simply to skew the election in favor of Democrats. Why are people being encouraged to register as Republican and vote for Paul in the primaries? Paul is a wacko. Internet hacks have to realize their impotence.
Melissa wrote on 10/11/07 at 11:47 am :
Paul is not ‘a wacko’. People who think that this government can run healthcare are wackos. While there are people who are ill for reasons not of their own doing, much illness in American society is behavior related. My advice to Americans: stop overeating & getting fat (diabetes, cardiovascular diseases), stop alcohol & drug abuse (cardiovascular diseases, motor vehicle accidents & other traumas), start taking responsibility for yourself and your health. No so-called improved access to care is going to change this. It will only further burden the middle-class, working people who will now have to pay for the irresponsibility of other people (as if we don’t do enough of that anyways).
starcraft5045 wrote on 10/11/07 at 2:00 pm :
Excellent. If people will just hear this great man, and digest what he says and his long record of consistency, integrity and courage, there is not other one that will cut it in the lineup Republican nor Democrat. Be a part of the revolution that will resound in history!

Let’s face it, the GOP has lost its way and most of the candidates are content to go down with a sinking ship, clinging to “disastrous” policies. Ron Paul is our one source of hope among the candidates, people need to listen to him.
Note that Guiliani always seems to be snickering in the background when Ron Paul is talking, but Gandhi warned about that.

Ron Paul represents hope for returning America to what made her great - limited government, individual liberty, personal responsibility, minimal entanglements in foreign affairs.
We need this man as the lightning rod for these efforts. The fact of the matter is, there are a lot of people out there who understand and support these principles, but they have been in hibernation. Now that the statists have gone too far, it is time for free people to retake their country.
Jonna wrote on 10/11/07 at 4:36 pm :
An ad that speaks for itself, thank you to those who have put it together and on the air.
Dr. Paul is a proponent of free trade and diplomacy. He follows the advice of the founders, not to get involved in entangling alliances with other nations. He believes in “just wars” versus unjust, unconstitutional and undeclared wars.
His support is growing by the day. This support cannot be measured by “scientific” polls as his camp consists of all walks, races, socio-economic level - many of whom have NEVER voted in their lives. The golden thread that runs through us all: the love of freedom.

I wouldn’t vote for this idiot if he were the ONLY candidate running! He’s closer to a Democrat than he is a conservative. He has no clue as to the enemy that we face and doesn’t seem to want to understand it. With Iran becoming a bigger threat (they pretty much have been since Jimmy Carter f***ed things up when he was President), I want a President who will actually protect the country and not imitate France and have have the new national security levels to be run, hide, and surrender. As my name implies, Ron Paul sucks ASS!
