Possible Surgeon General Warning: Government healthcare is dangerous to your health

October 14th, 2007 by Steve

Shortly after Ron Paul announced his intention to run for the Republican presidential nomination, my wife and I went out with a few DC area friends for drinks. One of the friends present was Norm Singleton, who is listed in my congressional directory as Ron Paul’s legislative director. He’s also a co-blogger at FreeLiberal.

We joked around that night trying to determine who would be Dr. Paul’s pick for Surgeon General, should he win the election. The two key nominees ended up being Dr. Dre and my wife.

At dinner tonight, my wife was upset that a lot of her patients on Medicare Part D often have their prescriptions for Aricept denied. Aricept is a frequently prescribed medication for people suffering from Alzheimers disease. That’s the thought sequence which brought about this idea:

Warning: The Surgeon General Has Determined That Government Health Programs Are Dangerous To Your Health.

It’s my belief that such a warning should be placed on every piece of government paperwork which deals with any federally financed health care program, especially Medicare, Medicaid, Champus, and VA treatment.

I am soooooo sick & tired of your Ron Paul rants, opinion & banter. When he loses, will you shut up about it? Or will there be months of post loser ANALysis? Maybe if he tried for the abortion doctor vote?

Please ignore the naysayer who posted the above. There are many people who are uncomfortable with the success of Ron Paul as a cultural phenomena.

I am not one of them. I am thrilled at the dialogue in recent months on liberty, individualism, and personal responsibility.

I’ve been reading your site with interest and thought you might want to see another post on YouTube. It’s from veteran of healthcare who started a web-based consumer advocate show called the The Raymond Report. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHk3pdfzdvI
    Just something for further discussion.
