Changing My View on Torture
November 30th, 2007 by Steve
I’ve been vocal about my adamant opposition to torture lately. I’ve got mixed feelings on capital punishment. Cops running around tasing people willy-nilly and shooting 92-year-old women in botched drug raids has had me a bit upset, as well.
In this one case, an exception is permitted. Tase the bastard, waterboard him while shoving bamboo splinters under his fingernails, then execute him. No wimpy electric chair or lethal injection, either. A Roman-style crucification is clearly in order.
Ireland’s police announced a manhunt Thursday for a beer bandit who drove into the Guinness brewery and left with 450 full kegs.
The national police force, the Garda Siochana, said a lone man drove into the brewery — a Dublin landmark and top tourist attraction — on Wednesday and hitched his truck to a fully loaded trailer awaiting delivery to city pubs.
Diageo PLC, the drinks company that owns Guinness, said the brewery had never suffered such a large-scale theft before in its 248-year history.
Wait a minute. Further reading of the article indicates that all of the beer stolen wasn’t Guinness Stout; some of it was Budweiser. A slightly more merciful execution may be in order.
