Another Unintended Consequence of Campaign Finance Reform

December 13th, 2007 by Steve

It seems that the left is in a tizzy because John Edwards wants to use your tax dollars to run for president, but he might not be able to campaign with as many of your hard earned dollars as he’d like. The problem stems from the McCain-Feingold (originally McCain-Feingold-Thompson) Act, as the FEC doesn’t wish to count money funneled though ActBlue in determining matching funds.

They are talking about spending money for which I’ve worked to support a candidate that I don’t like. If it wasn’t for this, I’d be laughing my butt off watching the left try to untangle the regulatory burden they were so anxious to force on the right.
