A Majority of One?

December 14th, 2007 by Steve

One can’t flip though the radio dial without hearing some right wing talk show host beating up on Hillary Clinton for her now infamous cackle. There’s the old cackle, the latest cackle, and soon to be more cackles.

While I may be the last American standing willing to make this statement, I’m not going to base my presidential vote on the laughing style of a candidate. I won’t cast my vote on diamonds or pearls any more than I did for boxers or briefs. Vagina vs. penis makes no difference to me, nor does race.

What does matter is the current position and the political history of each candidate with respect to issues of substance: Foreign policy, fiscal issues, domestic policy, civil liberties, and so on.

Based on these issues, I could probably list a million reasons to never vote for Hillary Clinton. But her laugh isn’t one of them. Surely there is someone left in America who feels the same way.

The problem many of us humans have with ‘the cackle’ is that it does not seem to be genuine. It’s like an ex-wife’s cackle. She uses it like some sort of weapon. If you noticed, ‘the cackle’ was turned off like a water spicket when the butt of the joke shifted from Obama to Her Highness. Most people I know don’t like personalities who can dish it out but can’t take it.
