I’m not convinced that a vote for the lesser of three evils is better than a vote for the lesser of two evils.
It isn’t that Barr isn’t “libertarian enough”; it is that he isn’t libertarian at all, at least by my reckoning. Not everyone who claims to be a libertarian is one, and he has not stated clearly that he was WRONG on the anti-liberty stances he held before, nor has he even acknowledged the anti-liberty stances he still holds. He should at least acknowledge and attempt to explain them to libertarians. Him not doing so makes me think he still believes he is right.
I have said that I will vote for him if he convinces me he has changed; that he does now believe in individual liberty more than he believes in societal security, enforced morality, or whatever. He has not done so, and I will not waste my vote by voting for someone I do not believe in. I would rather not vote at all. At least I would not feel guilty of soiling the title “libertarian” and selling my childrens’ future down the river.
